What is a Telegram Channel?

The Telegram channels are quite different from the Telegram groups; although they seem to be similar. For example, groups in Telegram can have up to 200,000 members and be accessible to the public.

On the other hand, Telegram channels are particularly designed to broadcast messages to a large group of audience. Unlike groups, they are not used for conversations.

In latest updates you can have an unlimited number of public or private channel subscribers. The public channels have its own web address “www.t.me/username” URL.

Searching and Joining Telegram Channels

If you know the exact name of the channel that you are looking for in Telegram, you can easily and directly subscribe from the Telegram app on your phone.

Although the process between the iPhone and Android app is a little bit different.

Open the Telegram application on your Android smartphone, and then tap on the search button in upper-right corner in the app.

Now, you must type the name of the Telegram channel that you’re searching to join and then select it from the results of the search.

This process will take you to the Telegram channel.

Now you can browse and explore to view the latest updates on the channel.

After that, when you’re ready to join the channel, you just need to click on the “Join” button.

If you have an iOS smartphone, tap on the Telegram app and go to the “Chats” tab above the chats.

Then click the search bar from the top of the screen phone. If you couldn’t find it, so scroll down the screen.

There, in the search bar, enter the name of the Telegram channel that you’re looking for to join. Then, choose and select it from the search results.

To subscribe the channel, you should simply tap on the “Join” button from the bottom of the screen.

Now you are joined to the channel.

You can find this channel and all other conversations under the “Chats” tab.

You’ll be aware and notified every time a channel shares an update.

Muting Telegram Channels

The Telegram channel is an important source for the latest information and updates on any topic, issue and subjects.

Yet if the number of your channel is too much, the channel notifications in app may become useless.

One thing which can help you is muting channels in app; beside that if it gets to be too much for you, you can leave a Telegram channel any time you want.

In both the Android and iPhone apps, the process of muting and unmuting a telegram channel is the same.

From the Telegram app on your smartphone, open the Telegram channel in question; click the “Mute” button from the bottom to mute the channel you want. You can go back there and undo it from the same place.

Leaving Telegram Channels

The process to leave and exit Telegram channels vary in different devices.

Grab your Android smartphone, open the Telegram channel which you want to leave, and then click the channel’s name at the top.

There, tap on the three-dot menu icon from the upper-right corner.

After that, select the “Leave Channel” option.

In the pop-up message, tap the “Leave Channel” option to confirm your decision.

In opposite, in your iPhone smartphone, go to the channel that you don’t need any more and tap on its ID, which can be found at the top of the screen.

Click the “Leave” button.

In the pop-up message, select the “Leave Channel” option to confirm your decision.

The channel immediately disappears from the Telegram application.
